Today, most Internet users have heard all about the benefits of broadband access such as DSL or Cable Modem connections. But how many internet users have ever heard about Fixed-Wireless access as an alternative? Although fixed-wireless access is starting to appear in more locations across the United States with great success, it’s not getting as much of the media limelight as other broadband services. Alsat Wireless can reach users as far as 10 miles away from our access points! Here are the answers to some of the more common questions about our service. What about security?

Communications between your location and our access point locations are encrypted using DES “Data Encryption Standard”. This is the same security used by federal agencies in their wireless networks. 
Does this use a satellite receiver?

Alsat Wireless service is not to be confused with satellite access, like HughesNET or Excede (Wildblue), or lumped in with cellular phone services which are expensive and require handheld devices. Alsat Wireless Internet access does not suffer from the latency or weather fade that plagues satellite based Internet delivery. Alsat Wireless service is not effected by rain, fog or snow. Fixed wireless does not require satellite systems, a cable connection, or even local phone service. By eliminating many of the expenses associated with other high-speed services, we are able to pass much of the savings on to our customers to provide an affordable yet high performance service for business and demanding residential users. Alsat Wireless uses a small microwave antenna that is attached to a radio at the customer premises. The Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) is pointed back to one of our access points. Even during rain or snow, your connection will be strong, reliable, and out of reach of falling limbs, outages, and other effects prone to wired networks.

What is involved in Installation?

A typical installation consists of installing our equipment on your house or building and connecting it to a computer or router. A typical installation is one that can be completed within 2 hours.    

How do I arrange payment?

We require that the install fee be paid following the completion of the installation.   Our current charge is $100 for Standard Setup, however, there may be situations where a non-standard Setup is required in order to obtain a usable signal. In this event, additional charges may apply.  For monthly service charges, our preferred payment method is a recurring credit card or debit card charge, but we do also accept payment by check or ACH.  

What are my computer requirements?

Alsat Wireless service is delivered to your computer or LAN via Ethernet. Your computer must have an Ethernet port installed. Most computers built in the past two years came with this factory installed. If your computer does not have an Ethernet card they can be purchased for under $20.00 at many locations including Staples, Office Max and Wal-Mart. We can install this device in your computer for a nominal fee. If you have multiple computers connected in a LAN, Alsat Wireless service will be connected to your LAN at your existing network location. If you do not have an existing network setup, or if you plan to add multiple devices such as laptops or mobile devices, a wireless router is required. You can purchase the router from us, or provide your own at the time of installation.                                            T

Technical Support Policy 

Our goal is to install and leave you with working internet service. If you encounter a problem after we leave please contact us and we will resolve your problem as quickly as we can. We can be reached at 573-564-2031. Frequently Alsat Wireless customers call us with support issues that are not the result of using Alsat Wireless Internet service and equipment. We are pleased to be of service to a certain degree but some problems may require an additional fee or a referral to a third party to solve.
